“Stitch your secrets amongst the leaves”

Come join CrossXpollinatioN 2024 Feature Artist Michelle Mischkulnig for a 2-day workshop full of colour, joy and life.
In line with the 2024 theme “SECRETS”, we invite you to stitch your secrets amongst the leaves and tell a story (or a secret) from your life in this 2-day workshop.

Immerse yourself in the creative process of creating a large gum leaf (approx. 60-70 cm long) and learn from the wonderful Michelle, who will teach you to explore different techniques, fibres and fabrics.

Michelle has an incredible ability to find joy and positivity in the colours, smells, sounds and memories of life, and with her you will learn to create “with heart, head and hand”.

Please note: Lunch will not be provided, so please bring your own lunch or enjoy the hospitality of one of the many varied food outlets within walking distance of COPACC.

Prices:

Tickets $250 (ticket includes a workshop kit)

A workshop kit will be provided for each participant, but feel free to bring a little fabric of your own to increase your ownership of the finished product.

You will also need:

1. some experience of free motion machine stitching
2. a sewing machine in perfect working order *
3. sewing machine manual and tool kit
4. top stitch needles 80
5. lots of lovely, coloured embroidery threads (Michelle’s preference is Rayon but she is happy for you to bring your colour of choice)
6. fabric scissors
7. a sense of adventure and humour 

*PLEASE NOTE: All electrical equipment brought on site will have to be test and tagged. If you wish to have your machine test and tagged by our technicians at $11 per item, please contact us on 03 5232 9418 to arrange it prior to the workshop.
