Hana Assafiri OAM
An International Women’s Day event
Whether it’s fostering social cohesion through community events or creating a safe, diverse space for Muslim women to share their stories, Hana Assafiri is a compassionate and unspoken Victorian hero.
She is a tireless advocate for women, a spokesperson for Islamic feminism, and as a long-time Melbourne icon is celebrated for her generosity and success as a businesswoman. Founder of North Fitzroy institution the Moroccan Soup Bar, Hana and her team are bringing their unique brand of Moroccan hospitality to COPACC. Hana supports intercultural understanding through monthly events coined ‘Speed Date a Muslim’ and ‘Conversation Salons’, which bring together people to discuss women’s issues, racism and the need for plurality and a progressive vision. All ticket holders to COPACC’s night with Hana can participate in our special ‘Speed Date a Muslim’ session at no extra cost, but register quickly as places are limited.
