The Season of Love

The ancient philosopher Plato said ‘music gives a soul the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything’.
Here at COPACC we believe the Greek thinker was on the money – and fully understood the evocative power of music – how the lyrics, the melody and the mood can instantaneously reconnect you with emotions, memories and moments with friends, family and lovers.

So much of our 2017 Colac Herald Theatre Season is info med by passion – we couldn’t resist naming it The Season of Love.

If you share our passion for exceptional vocalists, musicians and lyrics you’ll want to see Aussie rock and blues stars Russell Morris and Chris Wilson; classical guitar maestros The Grigoryans, jazz stars Kate Ceberano & Paul Grabowsky’s Love Songs; Exposing Edith - a beautiful show about the Little Sparrow; and chamber music by Flinders Quartet.

Last year we were rapt to have Vika Bull in At Last – The Etta James Story – one of our sellout shows. This year Vika is coming back with Debra Byrne for Tapestry, a narrative concert celebrating one of the best-selling albums of all-time by Carole King.

If comedy’s your thing you won’t want to miss the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow or two great plays from abroad – the exceptionally funny Stones in His Pockets set in Ireland or Bakersfield Mist based on a true story in California.

Around the World in 80 Days is a riotous comedy that will steal your heart and isperfect for the whole family. Our family and education season is filled with fantastic shows that will thrill and inspire – there’s song, dance, puppetry and more.

And there’s two more shows that promise to be extraordinary and they speak volumes to our theme of love. The Exotic Lives of Lola Montez is ascintillating, scandalous and true story of the wildest showgirl of the 19th century.

Blue Love is an hilarious and poetic view of pop culture, romance, coupledom and suburbia by award-winning choreographer Shaun Parker.

So here it is – COPACC’s 15th annual season – we know you’ll love it as much as we do

The COPACC Team.
